Local community sponsorshipsThe Port of Melbourne has shared close links with the Maribyrnong, Hobsons Bay, Port Phillip and Melbourne communities since the first trading ships docked along the Yarra River more than 150 years ago. Today, amid unprecedented international trade growth, Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) remains committed to building and strengthening these important local bonds. PoMC has undertaken a range of community sponsorships aimed at fostering its community connections while promoting fun, family and community spirit. To enquire about securing a PoMC

As part of its sponsorship, PoMC also encouraged local primary schools to get involved in a colouring competition of a port-themed drawing. With over 150 entries received, the competition proved a hit with local youngsters. Williamstown Festival PoMC signed on as a Festival Partner in 2009, sponsoring the main stage at the rotunda in Commonwealth Reserve. As always, big crowds flocked to the Williamstown foreshore to sample the colour and diversity of Hobsons Bay, enjoying all the arts, entertainment and multiculturalism this long-standing festival has to offer. Docklands Community Boat Tours The attendees came from all parts of Docklands, including the Victoria Point Tower, Yarra's Edge Towers, and they enjoyed a closer look at Victoria and Appleton Docks, Swanson Dock, Holden Dock, the West Gate Bridge and South Wharf. Williamstown Literary Festival This year, PoMC is sponsoring the Peoples’ Choice Award and the Seagull Poetry Prize, with the aim of supporting local writers – and readers – while helping the festival continue to grow and evolve.
