Local community sponsorships

The Port of Melbourne has shared close links with the Maribyrnong, Hobsons Bay, Port Phillip and Melbourne communities since the first trading ships docked along the Yarra River more than 150 years ago.

Today, amid unprecedented international trade growth, Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) remains committed to building and strengthening these important local bonds.

PoMC has undertaken a range of community sponsorships aimed at fostering its community connections while promoting fun, family and community spirit.

To enquire about securing a PoMC sponsorship of your community group or event, paricularly if it is
community-based, maritime-themed or educational, please download a Sponsorship Request Form (PDF, 29kb).

Our sponsorship of community events in the port's neighbouring communities include:

Yarraville Arts Festival
The Yarraville Arts Festival is an annual event that draws big crowds from around the inner west to the vibrant heart of Yarraville Village.

PoMC was delighted to continue its involvement with the Yarraville Arts Festival in 2010, sponsoring the Community Stage, an ever-popular part of the festival and a wonderful showcase of local talent.

Williamstown Literary Festival
As a small-scale local festival, the Williamstown Literary Festival attracts some of Australia's leading wordsmiths for a weekend of prose, poetry and performance.

PoMC sponsored the People's Choice Award and the Seagull Poetry Prize in 2010, with the aim of supporting local writers - and readers - while helping the festival continue to grow and evolve.

Congratulations to Amanda Anastasi, winner of the 2010 Seagull Poetry Prize for her poem Oceanic.
