Adopt a Ship program

So many great things are happening in the Port of Melbourne and yet even people who live close by may be unaware.

In this program we link a ship that regularly visits our port to a school. After an official adoption ceremony the students can follow the ship as it travels across oceans and learn about the places it visits, international trade and shipping. To see and hear more, including students' and school principals' comments, view a video clip . (WMV, 6.4Mb)

In addition we provide curriculum materials and resources to help teaching and learning across many different areas of study. Many of these resources are available from this web site:

Resources for students

Students and teachers who have already adopted a ship have been amazed at the work of the port and have enjoyed the classroom activities that relate to the wider world of local industry and international commerce.
