Lessons at the Port Education Centre

Classes at Port Ed are free and can cover a vast array of subjects and are usually planned in consultation with the booking teacher. This process ensures that schools receive lessons tailored to their needs, whatever the topics being studied.

All lessons fit into the VELS Civics and Citizenship Domain of the Physical, Personal and Social Learning Strand.

Examples of lessons available at the Port Education Centre:

Primary
Grade 1 and 2: What a port does.
Grade 3 and 4: Water transport in Port Phillip Bay.
Grade 5 and 6: Buoyancy, cargo ships and the Plimsoll Line .

Secondary
Year 7 and 8: History of the Port of Melbourne.
Year 9 and 10: Port economics and the port and its natural environment.
VCE Economics and Geography classes can also be catered for.
