Draft Port Development PlanPublic and stakeholder consultation
The draft Port Development Plan (PDP) sets out Port of Melbourne Corporation’s (PoMC) 30-year vision for the Port of Melbourne. The plan outlines how the future trade growth through the port can be accomodated and how Melbourne can remain the nation’s premier container port delivering ongoing economic benefits to the state. The draft PDP provides an important planning framework for the port as it prepares to invest upwards of $2 billion over the next 30 years in port-related projects, including plans to increase the percentage of freight movements by rail. The draft plan also seeks to balance the need for an efficient port, building on its competitive strengths, while taking into account the public amenity of neighbouring communities. View the media announcement of the release of the draft PDP made in conjunction with the Melbourne Port@L Consultation Draft (external site). Public and stakeholder consultationAs the strategic manager of a city port, PoMC is mindful of the need to consult with key stakeholders and to formally solicit their views. While considerable consultation with port customers and key stakeholders has been undertaken throughout the preparation of the PDP, we recognise that this is an important document for the future of the port and Victoria, and we encouraged interested parties to formally respond during the exhibition period as part of the consultation process. Formal submissions have now closed and we are considering them ahead of working towards a final Port Development Plan. How to view the draft planThe draft PDP is available in two versions, the full plan and a summary document, which can both be downloaded from this website (see links below).
